Shoesday Tuesday – Need a Little Motivation, Inspiration

I’ve been feeling like I’m stuck in a bit of a rut lately and am in need of something new to inspire me. Cue shoes. (Or any fashion/art really, but let’s stick to the theme.)

Shoesday Tuesday – The Art of Packing

As of tomorrow – I am on vacation from work. And I can’t wait!

Thursday morning, I am hopping on a plane with my lovely boyfriend and heading to Tennessee for a week. This means that tonight – I will pack. Which really means – “Let’s play a game called how many pairs of shoes can Mallorie fit in her carry-on sized luggage?”

I have high hopes. I’ve always been great at stuffing lots of things into little purses.

If the internet was my closet – here are the shoes I would bring. I’ll worry about reality later tonight.

Shoesday Tuesday – Teach An Old Dog New Tricks

I’ve never really had too much of a prejudice against a specific type of shoe – except maybe sneakers – but, I must say that I’ve always been a little luke warm about mules.

Recently, my best friend purchased a pair for her new burlesque venture and I thought to myself – cute, pin up inspired little shoe – am I missing out?

Fast forward a couple weeks to a day of online window shopping when I stumbled upon these beauties – I had to have them.

(With any luck they’ll be delivered to my office tomorrow.)

So let’s explore, open our minds, and step into a new pair of shoes.

Get it: (left to right, top to bottom) Pink Suede Open Toe Mule – $540, Patent Leather Black and White Mule Sandal – $75, Faux Reptile Peep Toe Bootie Mule – $41, Vivienne Westwood Patent Leather Red Mule – $100, Classic Mule – $59

Happy Branching Out!

Shoesday Tuesday – Spring Trends, a How To

Fashion is run by trends – we all know that. However, it’s what you do with said trends that creates personal style. There’s nothing wrong with embracing a new trend – but some can be tricky. Here are some tips:

  • Pick one trend and stick with that.
  • If the trend you are going for is bright, busy, or flashy – tone down the rest of your ensemble to compliment it and let it pull the focus.
  • If it doesn’t flatter your body type – don’t take it personally. Always place blame on the clothes – not on your body.
  • Take risks.

With that out of the way – let’s check out four shoe trends for Spring 13 (which weather-wise is rapidly approaching – finally) and put them into real life action!

Shoesday Tuesday – What’s Trending

I’m the sort of girl who ends up on trend by accident. More than often – the things I imagine in my head that I’d love to be wearing don’t exist in stores yet. I think I’ve more or less always been attracted to the same type of shoes. It did take me awhile to warm up to wedges – and now I’m pretty obsessed.

In the spirit of trends – and the start of October (how did that happen?) – let’s take a look at what shoes are trending for fall. Some I’m in love with – while others I’m a bit skeptical. Tell me what you think! Word for the wise – this is not a bargain post, so for the pairs with out of this world price tags – just think of them as inspiration.

First trend! Embellished heels. As a whole – I’m down. Within certain boundaries. Check out a variety of options below.

Get it: (upper left corner going clockwise) Brian Atwood Ankle Strap Heels – $1,473, Laced Heel – $254, Flowered Bootie – $1,695, Button Back Heel – $65, Glitter Heel T-Strap – $690, Silver Heeled Red Pumps – $1,115, Jeweled Heel Slipper – $650, Bow Back Heel – $2.185, Mirrored Heel Pump – $990, Snake Skin Ankle Heel – $2,695, Satin Bow Ankle Strap – $945, Studded Ankle Strap Wedge – $328, Studded Platforms – $136

2nd on the list. Lace Ups. I’m not too sure how this trend fits for fall – considering the amount of “sandals” I’ve been finding – maybe we’ll consider it “transitional.”

Get it: (upper left corner going clockwise) White and Black Wavy Lace Ups – $1,090, Red Suede Lace Up Pumps – $655, Pink Jelly Lace Ups by Vivienne Westwood – $225, Glitter Lace Up Heels – $1,275, Glitter Ankle Butterfly Pump – $90, Open Grid Lace Up Bootie by Roberto Cavalli – $955, Lace Up Ankle Strap Stiletto – $398, Proenza Schouler Wrap Around Laced Pump – $368

Now for most likely my favorite trend I’ll be showing – Cap Toed Shoes. If I owned any – they would be this week’s IRL shoe. Sadly – I don’t. So I’ll be using my imagination with all of you.

Get it: (upper left corner going clockwise) Pale Pink Silver Toe Pump – $89.90, White and Gold Pumps – $130, Gold Capped Black Pumps – $110, Copper Toe Boots – $225, Ankle Strap Dipped Toe Pump – $178, Studded Silver Capped Bootie – $875, Nude Faux Suede Pumps – $35, Studded Ankle Strap Flat – $29, Silver Capped Lace Up Bootie – $165, Gold Pump with Peach Toe – $248, Metallic Capped Loafer – $840, Marni Cap Toe Platform Wedge – $755, Metal Toe Cap Brogues – $23, Studded Toe Black Valentino Pump – $795

And for our final trend – and another one of my favs – Metallic Hits. You can find these babies at any price range. Metallic is of course always going to be on trend – but I think the shoe industry has been incorporating it in some interesting, new ways. Check it.

Get it: (upper left corner going clockwise) Metallic Platform Peep Toe – $130, Gold Heeled Bootie – $985, Pointed Toe Metallic Mary Jane – $60, Copper Heel Sling Back – $124, Gold Soled Ankle Boots – $995, Pointed Silver and Gold Mary Jane – $649, Geometric Metal Heeled Pumps – $72, Yves Saint Laurent Metallic Wedge – $383, Metallic and Black Pump – $30, Silver and Seafoam Metallic Mary Jane Flat – $38, Metallic and Black Colorblocked Wedge – $775, Gold and Silver Pointed Pump – $596

Since I’m not the quickest to be up on trends – I have no IRL shoe this week. Send me yours! Guess I’ve gotta go shopping.

Keisha does FNO!

Last week I took to the streets for Fashion’s Night Out. A night when those who have a love for fashion and amazing style step out in one of their best looks. Walking through the streets of manhattan they pose for bloggers, make statements and sip champagne in some of their favorite stores.

My night started when I came out of the train station in SOHO to see MUEHLEDER displaying her new collection. It was sexy, edgy and modern. Most of all I LOVED the makeup. Dewy luminous skin, red eyeshadow and gold lipstick complimented each look.

I stopped by the Billionaire Boys Club store and my little sis Kaya was there sporting this 1920’s fingerwave hairstyle with a pearl finish brown lipstick. She’s giving me fall all the way.

This trio turned the heads of everyone that passed them including mine. Not only were they dressed fabulously, they were sweethearts. Nothing’s more beautiful to me than humble people with style.

I then shopped into the UGG store where Dj C.Devone was on the 1’s and 2’s. She had everyone doing the Dougie. And she did it in style by dressing up her denim shirt with a gold metallic flared skirt, a chunky gold chain and a soft makeup look.

While waiting for champagne Christine caught my eye with a bright matte red lip.

And they way she mixed her patterns. Those floral pants… LOVE!

Couldn’t get enough of her shimmering green eyeshadow and wispy lashes.

Her makeup matched the green wavy pattern on her fly jumpsuit.

The effortlessly chic Tanisha was my partner in crime for that evening in her paisley print linen shirt and high waisted drop crotch pants.

Her smokey eye and nude lip were on point, a perfect accessory for her look.

My night ended with a fashion zombie. It wouldn’t be Fashion’s Night Out if it didn’t .
