Shoesday Tuesday (Wednesday) – A Belated Lesson in Thanksgiving Dressing

After an hour of unsuccessfully trying to get my computer to turn on last night (only after completing the longest day of my professional work life) it’s time for a belated Wednesday version of Shoesday Tuesday.

Luckily, I’m thankful for a lot more than just makeshift technology.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving – let’s figure out what we should wear this turkey day. Most of the time – I base my outfit around the shoes I’d like to wear. (I’m sure this surprises no one.)

So let’s take a look at some basic on trend staples and accessorize them with clothes for a change.

The Studded Ankle Boot

Get it: The shoe – $20, the dress – $70, The cape – $12, The bag – $36, The scarf – $16, The glasses – $

Mid-Calf Leather Boot

Get it: The shoe – $48, The sweater – $24, The skirt – $32, The hat – $32, The gloves – $50

The Animal Loafer

Get it: The shoe – $30 , The dress – $35 , The cape – $25 , The belt – $5 , The gloves – $22 , The ring – $25

The Glitter Pump

Get it: The shoes – $40 , The top – $50 , The pants – $19 , The cape – $140, The bag – $35 , The cuff – $44

Apparently I love a cape. Maybe I’ll base my own outfit off of that instead..

Fashion Week: Beauty Trends Spring 2013.

Some of your top designers are giving you new looks to try next spring and some are bringing that old thing back but with a twist. Here are some of my favorites:

At Michael Kors the liner floated up from the lash line to the crease. Giving you a pop of color on a fresh face.

At FENDI, not only did the collection inspire the makeup look, they were apart of the makeup! They cut thin strips of fabric used in the collection to create this three color liner look on the bottom lash line. I would not suggest trying this at home, but with three good eye kohl pencils I’m sure you can achieve the look.

At Donna Karen they opted for a bright pink eye and nude lip. It’s a new take on the simple smokey eye.

At Burberry Prorsum the girls walked the runway in metallic trench coats and bright red lips.

DKNY kept it clean, fresh, and dewy with the no makeup makeup look. For one who loves color, to me nothing tops the look of flawless looking skin.

Here are some of the Super Sexy Dames to rock a pair of black ears

Ok, I confess, I am a Cat Lady!
And Anne Hathaway bringing Cat Woman back to the Big Screen has given me some Cat Scratch Fever. (Corny, I know)
It’s really just another excuse for me to look up some crazy cat swag.

Michelle Pfeiffer will forever be my  favorite Cat Woman.

Moon Rise Kingdom

Moon Rise Kingdom

Maybe it’s my recent relocation to New England or the fact that I love stories about two people irresponsibly running away together, but Moonrise Kingdom has quickly become my favorite movie. Set on a small island off the New England coast in the summer of 1965, the movie tells the tale of 12-year-old romantics Sam and Suzy who run away together, and of the adults who chase them. The all star cast includes Bill Murray, possibly the most desirable man on the planet, Bruce Willis, Tilda Swinton, and Edward Norton. Wes Anderson brings his signature dream-like storytelling and wash of warm colors to the screen with costume designer Kasia Walicka Maimon.

Get the Look

Suzy’s style is a wonderful blend of retro-quirk that is perfect for summer adventures.

Moonrise Kingdom
Citrus Chic Dress $53.00
Vintage Brown Slim Double Breasted Detachable Cape Coat $75.00
Bass Matilda Saddle Shoes $126.00
Oryany Handbags Shoulder Bag $228.00

Live The Life

I’m in love with her portable record player and her taste in French music. Shes a babe. You can find similar ones on eBay for pretty reasonable prices, I found one similar to the one in the movie for about $35.00. Not bad!

Im also pretty sure that any respectable hipster will be dressed as a bird or boyscout this coming Halloween. Don’t forget your coonskin hat! Check out your local vintage store or weekend flea markets.

And, you should probably get your Dad or Boyfriend some of these awesome pants so they can be just like Bill Murray.

Bombshell by: Keriann

A week ago today I had the honor of showing my line, Bombshell Clothing, at the Shortstack’s 6th Annual Charity Fashion Show. The show was held at the Gorgeous Midtown Loft and Terrace on 5th Ave. This was my third year being involved in the show, and will definitely not be my last. There is nothing I love more then some awesomely bad ass girls who all get together and work the runway for a better cause.

Shortstack™ is a teen driven fashion and modeling program. Its goal is to allow young girls who do not fit the “normal” model standards to be a part of charitable fashion events. For years, girls have been rejected from the modeling industry because they are too short. Shortstack was created by teens under the guidance of Windows of Opportunity, Inc. to give these “short” girls a chance at achieving their dreams as models and empower them to love themselves for who they are. Proceeds from the Fashion Show will be donated to Windows of Opportunity, Inc.’s Youth Development Programs, such as the HIV Empowerment and Leadership Program (HELP), “The Inner You” Program for Eating Disorders, and more.

The Girls involved in Shortstack are by far some of the best models I have had the pleasure of working with. Why blend in when you can stand out, and that’s exactly what these girls do!

Max The Bartender
Dear Max you look like my dad!

Coles a dim lit bar famously known for it’s French Dip sandwich is an important part to Los Angeles history. It’s LA’s oldest public house (opening in 1908) adorned with original glass lighting, penny tile floors, mahogany leather booths and historic photos that ooze a 1900’s tavern spirit. On the bar is a large tub of pickled eggs, which looks like a less-than appetizing science experiment. However, they are known for their homemade spicy pickle juice so alas I went for it and it did not disappoint! For a dollar each, the hard-boiled eggs are a perfect compliment to their phenomenal cocktails including the Moscow Mule (presented in a proper copper mug), The Old Fashioned, and the Sazerac. They are all served by a very dapper bartender, the lovely Max, wearing but of course a bowler hat. Cole’s classic french dips are served with a cup of house-made Au Jus along with an atomic pickle spear. Be sure to order a side of the breaded Mac N’2 Cheeses or their Spicy Garlic Sweet Potato Fries. Take a step back in time and enjoy a historic cocktail and all the character this place has to offer. It will not disappoint. After imbibing at Coles escape thru a small nameless door in the back that opens up to yet another LA treasure The Varnish room. We’ll let you form your own opinion on this little “speakeasy”.

Summer time is here.

Are your eyes ready?

Sunglasses are perhaps the most important accessory.

Personally, I feel naked if I leave the house with out them.

This Summer we are completely head over heals for both Round Frames and some Sexy Cat Eye Frames.

The bigger the better.

You can never have too many Sunnies!
